Pope Francis hospitalized

 

Pope Francis prepares colon surgery in the first time to hospitalization since taking office in 2013.

Pope Francis into Gemelli Hospital in Rome this afternoon to prepare for colon surgery is planned first.

Vatican officials added that the surgery was expected to take place today and will release the statement after it is complete.

Pope Francis celebrated a few hours before hospitalizing on July 4.

This is the first time Pope Francis, 84, hospitalized since taking office in 2013. He seems healthy in the previous ceremony of thousands of people in St. Square.

Pope Francis is always in good health over the years.
