Cheap, easy and getting the biggest bang for your buck. It's what i'm all about. This cheese cutter hits all of those points and more. See, i'm cheap, so I buy those HUGE blocks of cheddar cheese on the cheap, and I have typically laboriously cut off slices as needed using a knife. It, is, a, PAIN! And dangerous too, once a cheap-o steakknife I was using to slice up some cheese broke into pieces --- and I was lucky enough to walk away with all my fingers. So, I bought this instead. Price is right, it makes slicing cheese really really easy, and it looks fancy. Now, i'm not using it how it most likely is intended to be used: as a fancy showpiece for all the fancy parties that i'm not throwing.... sometimes, I just want a slice of cheese to cook with or eat on the spot... and for that, I can tell you without a doubt... there is no better way to cut the cheese. A thing to consider is that it is relatively small, so anything you cut needs to fit in it; what I usually do is cut those big logs of cheddar into more manageable pieces, and just whip out a log when I need some cheese, slice slice slice, then put the log back, and you're good to go. Also, it cleans up easy with just a dish towel. Hope that helps!

Beautiful marble, heavy with nice feet to keep it steady on your counter, cuts nicely and easy to clean. It's small - that is clear in the listing - I might want a larger version some day. In the meantime I am enjoy using this slicer.

Everyone needs one of these. Best thing ever, the wire breaks every now and then, but the replacement wires are super cheap and pretty easy to put on after you've done it once. This is mostly just for smaller blocks of cheese like 8oz is what I use it for

We had been looking for one of these wire cheese cutters for a while, The wire is great and there are two extra wires attached the the bottom of the base. The base of the cutter is heavy enough to keep it in place while you are holding the cheese block and cutting it.

My family loves cheese. We love the real thing and try to stay away from the bagged cheese that has no telling what in it. For the longest time we had just been using a knife to cut chunks or slices from our cheese blocks, but it's really hard to get a knife to make a clean, even cut in a block of cheese. We had been talking about getting a cheese cutter for a while and kept looking locally for one, but we just never did find one. Finally I gave up and ordered this from Amazon. I wish I wouldn't have taken so long to order it now! We just love it. My 11 year old daughter loves it the most. She loves being able to make the slices she wants to fit whatever creation she's making. The heavy marble base keeps things steady while the wire slices thru so clean and easy. Cleanup is really easy, and although I've never needed them, it comes with extra wires in case one of yours breaks. Really nice cheese slicer for the price.

I honestly thought it was going to be plastic junk but I was quite happy to see this is actual marble and even came with 2 extra cutting wires taped to the bottom. It's nice and heavy so unlike a wooden one it doesn't slide around on the counter. Cleaning is easy since you can remove the arm.

Update - 5 years later: I'm still using this slicer. I run it through the dish washer after each use, and I've only had to replace the wire blade once. I've had to tighten it up a few times, but this has held up very, very well...and, I purchased some of the big blocks of CostCo cheese, and this works fine to cut them! Forget what you read before this review. Here are the facts: 1. The slot for the wire is nicely tapered, which seems to help a LOT compared to other versions I've used 2. Wire is really tight, which let's it cut quickly and cleanly 3. Marble is super-easy to clean. I'll never use a wood one again. 4. MOST IMPORTANT: The pivot for the handle is in the perfect spot. Allows maximum leverage of the wire against the cheese. You don't have to horse the handle and wire through your cheese One caveat: If you are buying those GIANT blocks of CostCo cheese previous reviewers have discussed, don't complain that this mini-slicer doesn't work for you. Spend more money and get a much larger slicer. You don't buy a Honda Civic and complain that you can't fit a 4' X 8' sheet of plywood in the trunk, do you? This is the best tool for the job, assuming you are cutting normal pieces of cheese (and not pieces to cover an entire slice of bread)...

Someone gave me one of these as a gift more than 10 years ago. I've replaced the wire a few times (extras included) but otherwise it has been trouble free. Easy to use, nice looking, easy to clean, cuts any cheese. I bought this as a part of a wedding gift for a friend. It's exactly like the one I received many years ago, so I am sure it will last well past her 10 year wedding anniversary!

My roommate in Louisville had a cheese slicer similar to this one and since I've moved to rural North Carolina I haven't been able to find one anywhere! I had almost given up hope when a search led me to this beauty. I don't know if you've ever sliced cheese with a knife but it's not easy and it always comes out uneven. Not with this! Say you're having friends over and you need a quick snack tray. You can pay a fortune for one at the deli or you can grab some crackers and a couple blocks of your favorite cheeses. With this handy gadget you can make cheese cubes or tiny bite size slices in no time! Maybe you just like to snack on cheese cubes, in the store they are expensive but a block of cheese is a quarter of the price and you can make your own. Clean up is also a breeze, just wipe it off with soap and water dry it and your done. My roommate's was made ov wood and the groove the wire lays in was hard to keep clean but this one is made of durable marble which not only is easier to clean, it looks classier on your countertop. I also use mine to make homemade mac & cheese. I highly recommend this product!

I love this cheese slicer! It is great for making uniform cheese slices and cubes. The original wire was broken when I unpacked the slicer, but there is a spare taped to the bottom of the marble. It's pretty easy to change out, too. I buy large blocks of cheese from Costco, and slice or cube half, grate the other half, and then package them in quart-size freezer bags to use as needed. I can prep several blocks at a time, very quickly, and then I have what I need on hand. This might be my new favorite kitchen gadget.
