This is such a great educational game! If you are in need of a great birthday or holiday gift, this is a MUST!!! It's not a game I had ever seen in the stores, and I hadn't heard of this company before but my 8 year old son with Autism was obsessed with the game High Ho Cherry-O used in his ABA therapy, so I was planning on purchasing that on Amazon when I came across this game. I took a chance based on the amazing reviews and SO glad I did! My son used this game in his ABA therapy this morning and it was such a hit! This game was not only PERFECT for him but my 5 and 3 year old daughters also had a great time participating in this! The tongs are great for little hands and still quite a task for adults too.. you'll be surprised!! Seriously, even the therapist had fun lol! The box the game comes in is unique and the artwork on the box is colorful and fun! The presentation and the feel of the game is quality.. not cheap plastic pieces made in China. It is in such a fun little package you want to open it and play it right away! I would have thought this game was worth twice of what I paid for it!! It exceeded my expectations for sure! I will definitely be purchasing more games from educational insights in the future.. for not only my kids but also for gifts!!! If you're on the fence, GET this game for your kiddos, you won't be sorry!! It's perfect for teaching turn taking, understanding matching colors and they won't realize they are really working on perfecting those fine motor skills!! Worth EVERY penny!!!

My husband and I have played this game a couple of times with our 2.5 year old daughter, and we all love it!! Sometimes she uses the squirrel tweezers, sometimes she just uses her fingers. But she understands the concept of filling your tree stump to win, taking turns, spins the spinner by herself, etc. It is colorful and wonderfully tactile (the acorns have a bit of squishy "grip" to them) and doesn't take too long, so it effectively holds my daughter's attention, and I think she enjoys the independence of having her own tree stump, spinning the spinner herself, and collecting her own stash of acorns. I ordered the Count Your Chickens cooperative game at the same time as this, and we've also played that one. It wasn't nearly as fun. We'll try it again, but it didn't "click" the way that Sneaky Snacky Squirrel did, and was rather anticlimactic. Sneaky Snacky Squirrel is the epitome of a beginner board game, and I'm so thrilled to have a new family activity in which my 2 year old is an equal and independent player.

I am a school-based speech therapist and I received this game gratis from Educational Insights in exchange for an honest review. The game play of The Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game! follows the same principle of play as Hi-Ho-Cherry-O, but adds some additional educational components, which makes it a great choice for young children. The object of the game is simple: collect different-colored acorns from the tree to fill up your tree stump. Once you have collected all five colors, you win. A spinner dictates which color acorn you get to collect. But watch out -- if you get the storm cloud all your acorns get blown back onto the tree. And if you get the sad squirrel, you lose a turn. Also beware of the thieving squirrel that allows other players to steal one of your acorns from your tree stump. If you get lucky, your spinner will land on a color, a "1", or a "2", which are the fields needed to pick acorns. The recommended age range is 3 years and up, but I played this with language-delayed third-graders and they still liked it. Not only does this game work on counting and color-matching skills, but there are other educational aspects. The thing that really differentiates this game from Hi-Ho Cherry-O is the fine motor component: on their turn, players use the plastic squirrel tongs to pick up the acorns. This really allows them to work on their hand strength and fine motor control while playing! I find that the pieces in this game don't get lost as easily as the cherries in Hi-Ho Cherry-O as they are a little bigger and can be easily counted during clean-up (there should be four of each color) to make sure they're all still there. The game components are also higher quality and the acorns have a rubber-y texture to them. This would make a great game for preschool SLPs as well as Occupational Therapists! Or of course for any household with young children. I uploaded a couple of customer pictures, please take a look!

This is a game my preschooler (age 4) loves to play. He gets to practice hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, taking turns and strategy. One round with 2 players takes about 10 minutes, 3 players increases the time to about 15 minutes. The object of the game is to get one acorn of each color in your tree stump. There are icons on the spinner for passing your turn without play, stealing an acorn from another player (Sneaky Squirrel!), removing all the acorns from your stump (Squirrel Storm!), choose 1 or 2 acorns of any color you need as well as an icon for each colored acorn. I put my youngster in charge of the Sneaky Squirrel Squeezers (aka big squirrel tweezers) for both of us. He really likes picking up the acorns with them and trying to put the acorn in the matching colored hole in the stump. The game is original and well packaged with quality materials. I would recommend it to families with children ages 3-5. Update January 15, 2015 My son lost an acorn, no big deal unless 4 people are playing. I contacted the company, and they are going to send me a new one. Now that's customer service!

I had seen this game mentioned in homeschooling and gameschooling groups quite a few times, so I decided to splurge and buy it. I am glad that I did. I have a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old. They both enjoy playing it and I like that it's so easy to understand, that they can play it together without me. I'll stick around for the first couple games, but when they want to keep going and I need to make dinner, it's nice to be able to walk away and know they are still having fun. I was surprised by the quality of the acorns and squirrel tweezers. This is nice, solid stuff that I have no doubt will last their childhood. My first grader is still having trouble with handwriting, so I appreciate this game works on fine motor skills. For my preschooler, I like that he is learning to take turns and be a good sport. He already knows colors. The math here is very simple but that is perfect for little kids and helps reinforce the concepts. With a lot of games, the kids will be upset to lose a turn or land on a spot that requires them to put all of their pieces back, but with Sneaky Snacky Squirrel they just laugh it off and continue to have fun. They really enjoy the spinner landing on the "squirrel bandit" and then getting to sneak someone else's acorn. Nobody gets upset about it and everyone continues having fun. The box is solid quality and part of the game. I appreciate how sturdy it is because I have other board games in cheap, busted boxes. This one is odd shaped so it might frustrate people who like to organize with matching shapes on shelves or whatever, but that doesn't bother us. If you are a family with small children and want to spend time playing a game together that everyone can understand and enjoy, this is one I would recommend.

This game is not only cute but it's also educational, lots of fun, and easy for little ones to comprehend and play fairly independently once they know the instructions. My 5 and 4 year olds can play without my help now that we have played together a few times which is great. The game comes with 4 logs that have color coded spots for the acorns. The acorns are made out of rubber, not plastic, which makes them easier to grasp with the squirrel shaped grabber. The grabber is similar to a large set of tweezers in the way it works. It's so easy for kids to understand the spots on the wheel because they are color coded, have pictures and/or simple numbers. My kids favorite part of the game is when they get to steal each others acorns. This is a great family night game if you have smaller kids. My kids love to see who will fill up their log with acorns first that they don't even realize they're working on their colors, counting, and other skills like taking turns, patience, etc. I would highly recommend the sneaky snacky squirrel game to every family. It's one of the best games I have bought my kids ever.

4 children and 20+ years of being a parent, cutest game I've ever seen. Not only high quality pieces, great for hand eye coordination, counting, colors, taking turns, sportsmanship. (Being happy for other players who win or have a great turn.) I honestly can not imagine why anyone would or even could give this game a bad review. Not to mention the price point it phenomenonal! $10- $15 !?! I've paid double that for a family game that consisted of just cards. FANTASTIC GAME!!! I'm headed over to buy all of the other games in the set!

Excellent game for a toddler/preschooler. I am a pediatric OT and love this game. I love that they incorporate "tongs" in the play of the game. I usually buy this for a child who is 2 1/2-3. It's usually one of their first games. The best part about this game is it holds up over time. You can easily have a 8-10 year old play and still be entertained. It is along the lines of a "Hi-Ho-Cheerio" but is better since it helps develop muscles of the hand needed for coloring, writing, and feeding.

My seven year old boy is the worst loser in the United States. For sure. Videogames, boardgames, sports - at the first sign he will lose, he cries, whines, throws a tantrum. It's ridiculous. My three year old son, by contrast, is not. It was not my intention to get this game purely to upset my son, but watching my three year old torture his older brother by 'stealing' his acorns has been one of the best experiences of my entire life. The joy in his little eyes as he watches his brother lose his sht as Sneaky Squirrel takes his acorns. It's genius. Even if he already has the color, the younger brother would rather steal his sibling's acorn than take a color he actually needs from another player. It's honestly the funniest thing in the world. I love this game.

Great for game nights with young children! My family has always enjoyed board games, but with very little children in our crew we are always on the look out for games they can join in without a lot of help. This game and others by Educational Insights are our go to choices to start of family game night, they are easy to learn, quick games, that require no reading skills to play (also a plus for when grandparents join in as they won't have to strain their eyes to read game cards)and that older kids and adults won't find torturous to play. Playing these games gives little ones the chance to learn coping skills for disappointments and frustra
